However, there are certain features on the Site that imply the provision of personal data (for example, if you wish to submit a contact form to deliver your questions and suggestions).
The other features available on the Site, such as scheduling appointments and examinations, require prior registration on the My CUF platform. The processing of personal data in that context is subject to a separate Privacy and Cookie Policy.
1.3 - Identification and contact details
If you wish to contact CUF through the Site, CUF will collect a range of personal data that is processed to respond to the request / question / sharing / expression of gratitude / complaint / suggestion.

2. Use of Personal Data
2.1 - CUF processes personal data for the purposes of managing contacts with Users, namely in order to respond to their requests / questions / complaints / suggestions.

3. Sharing of Personal Data
3.1 - Data will be transferred and related among the various companies of the CUF Group to enable responses to requests / questions / complaints / suggestions addressed to us through the Site. For example, if the User’s message relates to the services provided by one of the CUF Health Units, the request / question / complaint / suggestion will be forwarded to the company that manages the Unit in question, to investigate the issue and process the reply to the same.
3.2 - CUF may transfer and receive Users’ data to/from subcontracted entities for the purposes mentioned above, under the terms of the contracts concluded with the same.
3.3 - CUF may also transfer Users' personal data to third parties, when such data communications are necessary or appropriate (i) in light of the applicable law, (ii) in compliance with legal obligations / court orders, (iii) by order of the National Data Protection Commission or any other competent supervisory authority, or (iv) to answer requests from public or government authorities.
4. Storage of personal data
4.1 - The personal data collected necessarily for the purpose of responding to requests / questions / complaints / suggestions will be kept for the period strictly necessary for that purpose, and can always be stored, in the case of pending litigation, until the final decision becomes res judicata and the legal action terminates.
5. Cookies
5.1 - Like most websites, we occasionally install small files called cookies on your computer in order to ensure the website works correctly.
5.2 - In fact, CUF uses cookies and other similar tracking technologies to distinguish you from other users when using the Site. These technologies help us to provide you with a better experience whenever you browse the Site, allowing us to improve the Site itself.
5.3 - Cookies - What are they?
Cookies are small information files that are stored on your computer or mobile device through the browser. These files allow the Site to “remember” your actions and preferences for a certain period of time, namely the username, the chosen language, the font size and other display settings. That is why when you browse the pages of a website or application or return to a website or application that you have already visited, you do not, in principle, have to indicate your preferences again.
5.4 - Cookies - What are they used for?
The cookie identifies your browser on the server, enabling information to be stored on your device. This technology serves different purposes, such as helping to determine the usefulness, interest and number of times you use our Site, allowing the user to navigate more quickly and efficiently, eliminating the need to repeatedly enter the same information.
Most browsers are set to accept cookies, although it is possible to configure the browser to refuse all cookies (see below), or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. When you browse the Site and the cookie is accepted, on your next visit to the Site our internet server will recognise your computer or mobile device. In this way, when you browse the pages of a website or application or return to a website or application that you have already visited, and in relation to which you have given consent to use cookies, you do not, in principle, have to indicate your preferences again or re-input data that you have previously provided.
5.5 - Cookies - What type of cookies exist?
There are several types of cookies.
In terms of the lifetime of cookies, these can be:
a) Permanent cookies - these are cookies that are stored on your access devices (PC, mobile and tablet) even after closing the browser. They are used whenever you make a new visit to the Site. They are generally used to direct navigation to the user's interests, allowing us to provide a more personalised service.
b) Session cookies - these are temporary cookies that remain in your browser's cookie file until you leave the website or application. The information obtained by these cookies is used to analyse traffic patterns on the web, allowing us to identify problems and provide a better browsing experience.
Cookies can also, in terms of the domain to which they belong, be:
a) Own cookies - cookies sent to the user's terminal equipment from a device or domain managed by CUF and from which the service requested by the user is provided.
b) Third party cookies - cookies sent to the user's terminal equipment from a device or domain that is not managed by CUF, but by another entity that handles the data collected through the cookies.
5.6 - Cookies - How and for what purposes do we use them?
This website uses several types of cookies to provide you with a better browsing experience:
Essential Cookies
Session cookies: temporary cookies that remain in your browser's cookie file until you leave the website or application. The information obtained through these cookies allows us to identify problems and provide a better browsing experience.
Analytical cookies
Cookies that allow statistical analysis of the navigation on the CUF website, in order to improve your browsing experience. Handled by us or partner companies.
This website uses the Google Maps application, which entails the use, by Google, of anonymous cookies that determine the number of unique users of this API (Application Programming Interface). Google also gathers statistics regarding the types of features used in the “Maps” product.
5.7 - Cookies - How to use them?
Website or application users can enable or disable their acceptance of cookies by changing the settings on their computer or mobile device.
All browsers allow the respective user to accept, refuse or delete cookies, namely by selecting the appropriate settings in the respective browser. Users can, therefore, configure their browser to inform them whenever a cookie is received or even disable its acceptance, however CUF warns that this may partially affect the use of some of the Site's features, by not having improved and personalised navigation on our website.
If your browser's privacy setting is set to “High”, you will not be able to access some of the features and may be prevented from fully using all the features of our websites or applications. This issue is solved by adding our internet address www.cuf.pt to the list of permitted websites in your browser's privacy settings.
If you are accessing our Site through a corporate computer and are unable to access it, the problem may be with the computer's corporate security settings. We recommend that you contact your system administrator.
5.8 - Other tracking technologies - Web beacons
CUF uses a digital analytics tool to provide support in understanding what is effective content, for example by counting the users, in an aggregated and anonymous way, who have visited those pages. Web beacons consist of small graphics with a unique identifier, whose function is similar to cookies, and which are used so that CUF may know when certain content is viewed. Unlike cookies, which are stored on the user's computer, web beacons are invisibly embedded in the web pages. CUF can thus correlate the data collected by the web beacons with other data that CUF may have collected.
6. Users’ rights
6.1 - Pursuant to the applicable legislation, data subjects can request access to the personal data concerning them at any time, as well as the rectification, erasure or limitation of that data’s processing, the portability of the data, or they can object to its processing. 6.3. - They also have the right, under the terms of the applicable legislation, to request the limitation of the processing or the portability of their data, subject to the legally established conditions. They must submit, for this purpose, a request to the contacts mentioned in 6.1.
7. Security
7.1 - CUF guarantees privacy and security in the transfer of Users' data by using encryption with SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) for all information exchanged with CUF, via the internet.
7.2 - Moreover, CUF states, for this purpose, that it has and will keep in operation all technical means at its disposal to prevent the loss, misuse, alteration, unauthorised access and misappropriation of the personal data provided or transferred. In any case, it should be noted that by circulating data over an open internet network it is not possible to completely eliminate the risk of unauthorised access and use, so the User should implement the appropriate security measures when browsing the Site.
8. Third party websites
8.1 - We provide links to third party websites on our Site, which are subject to separate Privacy Policies. Please note that this Privacy Policy does not apply to such websites and CUF is not responsible for the collection of information by said third parties through the respective websites. If you have doubts regarding the processing of data from these third party websites, you must consult their privacy policies.
9. Complaints
The User is entitled to submit a complaint to the National Data Protection Commission, or other competent supervisory authority defined by law, if it considers that the processing of its data by CUF infringes the law in force at any time, without prejudice to any other means of administrative or judicial action.
10. Questions
Contact us at dpo@cuf.pt if you have any questions related to the processing of your personal data and the exercise of the rights conferred on you by the applicable legislation and, in particular, referred to in this Policy.
