COVID-19 Safety Fee

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

In the COVID-19 pandemic, adaptation of internal hospital practices in the prevention and control of SARS-CoV-2 infection is crucial.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the adaptation of internal hospital practices is crucial and imposes special precautions in the prevention and control of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

It is necessary to minimise the risk of contagion, ensure an effective response to all clinical needs and guarantee the safety of our patients and healthcare professionals.

CUF has an ongoing mitigation plan adapted to needs that arise daily, in line with the guidelines issued by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The DGS recommendations, especially Standard 007/2020, define procedures for the use of the personal protective equipment necessary for safe clinical practice in the context of COVID-19 (PPE). Compliance involves additional consumption of materials, with different levels of protection and complexity, which vary depending on the type of clinical service provided and the length of stay in hospital.

These safety and protection procedures, which include the use of the PPE (personal protective equipment, necessary for safe clinical practice in the context of COVID-19), are primarily charged to insurers or health subsystems and are only charged to patients if they fail to confirm reimbursement.

The amounts charged in the different departments at CUF units are:

  • Permanent Care safety fee - 8€
  • Imaging safety fee - 7€
  • Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation safety fee - 10€ (kinesitherapy only)
  • Daily Hospitalisation safety fee - 15€
  • Special Exam safety fee - 45€
  • Minor Surgery safety fee - 20€
  • Operating Room safety fee - 90€
  • Dental Medicine safety fee - 15€
  • PPE Special Examination safety fee I (Invasive without anaesthesia) - 20€
  • PPE Special Examination safety fee II (Invasive with anaesthesia) - 45€
  • Other protective materials and/or additional services not mentioned above, listed in the price list of the hospital or CUF clinic, may be used, depending on the case.

Given the dynamics of current circumstances, this information may change on indication from the competent health authorities.

We suggest that you request information from your insurer or health subsystem about the conditions on co-payment of these additional charges. Customers under ARS Conventions will not be charged personal protective equipment.

If in doubt, contact your CUF hospital or clinic.
